Thursday, November 2 ~ Donna Volpitta: The Resilient Mindset Model: The Neuroscience of Mindful Leadership
As founder of The Center for Resilient Leadership (www.centerforresilientleadership.com), Donna Volpitta, Ed.D., is focused on making brain science accessible and applicable. Her Resilient Mindset Model™ has been applied to areas of leadership from parenting to corporate management. The Resilient Mindset Model serves as a framework for understanding the brain in order to help people make mindfully resilient choices. Donna is the creator of the Pathways to Empower brain-based leadership framework, co-author of the book “The Resilience Formula: A Guide to proactive–Not Reactive-Parenting” and co-creator of the Nametags Education Program. She holds Board positions for One Revolution Foundation (www.one-revolution.org) and Kids Helping Kids (www.kidshelpingkidsct.org), both of which develop resilience in youth. She is an expert contributor for Understood.org, a coach for the life-skills collaborative YaThatGame.com, and a Global Presence Ambassador for Parenting 2.0.
Donna’s book is The Resilience Formula: A Guide to Proactive, Not Reactive, Parenting. The Resilience Formula is a plan for proactive parenting- parenting that actively considers how to teach resilience to children through everyday challenges. Many parenting books tell us what makes a good parent. It is not easy, however, to find information about how to be that type of parent, particularly when strong emotions come into play. In this book, we provide: 1- A FRAMEWORK for handling challenges, big and small; 2- LESSONS about how to script language to make your child more independent; and 3- A PLAN to help you transform challenges into opportunities to teach resilience.
