Do You See the Beauty in You?

What do you see when you watch this video? Do you see gray skies or do you see the beauty in front of you?

I hope you see the beauty.

Now, when you think about yourself, do you see with rose-colored glasses, or are you hard on yourself?

Whether you saw beauty in the video or not, most of us often look at ourselves and see what’s wrong with the picture instead of seeing with kind and gentle eyes. Whether it’s with how we look, how much we’ve accomplished, how our relationships are working or not working, we tend to be hard on ourselves.

Did you know that every time you see yourself through dark colored glasses, you keep your Worthiness Quotient low?

Your Worthiness Quotient is how much you are open to receive love, support and the life you want from the Universe. When you are hard on yourself, your energy holds a vibration that says, “I deserve a life that is difficult and unloving. I deserve punishment.” And because energy attracts like energy, that is what shows up.

To create a life you love, you must raise your Worthiness Quotient. That means you must begin to see the beauty in you. Shifting your mindset from being hard on yourself to being kind to yourself is key. Here are three daily steps to get you started:

  1. Reprogram your brain. Pay attention to your negative mind chatter. Every time you realize you’re beating up yourself, stop and say, “I don’t do punishment anymore. I deserve kindness.” And then find something positive to say about yourself. As you take control of your mind and feed it with kind information, your perspective will change and you will begin to see that your beauty radiates from the inside out.
  1. Instead of looking for others to validate you, validate yourself. Looking for love outside of yourself is fleeting. Whether with how you look, with your relationships or in your work, when you find yourself wanting someone else to validate you, pat yourself on the back. Say to yourself the things you crave to hear from others. And if you really want to celebrate, write a message in your journal and share how proud you are of yourself.
  1. Breathe into your body. Most of us don’t take time to breathe daily. And, yet, paying attention to your breathing is one of the quickest ways to be kind to yourself. I’m not talking about breathing from your chest. I’m talking about breathing into your whole body. Try this: as you breathe in slowly, feel the air moving all the way into your toes, fingers and the top of your head. As you breathe out, let everything go. Release all judgment and feel the beauty of being you. Celebrate that you are alive. Celebrate that you are YOU! Do this for ten breaths. Then expand your practice to five minutes. You can practice this sitting at your desk, taking a walk in nature, in bed, or even sitting in your car. Feeling a connection to your breath is a key to feeling connected to everything and a wonderfully easy way to be kind to yourself.

Where are you kind to yourself and where are you not? I encourage you to go into awareness and practice these three tools daily. As you do, you will begin to see life with rose-colored glasses. You will see the beauty in you, and in the people and things around you. You will raise your Worthiness Quotient and open up to receive a life filled with kindness, abundance and love.

  1. Thank you for sharing this. I realized lately how skewed my perception is of myself and how much I’ve lived my life thinking I’m undeserving of things because I’m not “there” yet. There meaning perfect. But we will never be perfect and I don’t want to be anymore. I’m embracing my clouds and seeing the beauty in the storms.
